The Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva is the nomination of the centre-right GERB party for Presidential candidate. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on 2nd of October.

GERB’s vice-presidential candidate is Vice-Admiral Plamen Manushev.

PM Borissov thanked the executive commission that the name of the candidate was not disclosed before the official announcement.

According to the leadership of GERB, the candidate of the party should be well recognizable and with great prestige domestically and abroad, unifier and also a mediator with skills to cope with the complicated international situation.

Tsetska Tsacheva Dangovska was born on 24th of May, 1958, in the village of Dragana, Lovech region.

She graduated in law from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”

She served one year as an intern judge at the District Court in Pleven before taking up the position of legal adviser at the Municipal Council in Pleven. Since 1988, she was appointed Head of the Legal Department of Pleven Municipality. On April 29th, 1992, she was admitted to the Pleven Bar, of which she is a member to this day.

Tsacheva is a founding member of the Association of Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) and the GERB political party in Pleven.

As leader of the municipal chapter of GERB, she ran for mayor of Pleven at the local elections held in 2007. She was elected municipal councillor in the Pleven Municipal Council on the GERB ticket. In the national elections for the 41st Parliament in 2009, she was a majority candidate and No. 1 on the GERB proportional ticket for the 15th Constituency, Pleven.

She was elected Speaker of the 41st National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria on 14th July 2009 with 227 votes “in favour” and 3 “abstained”, becoming the first woman Speaker of the National Assembly in the history of Bulgaria.

On 27th of October 27, 2014, she was elected Speaker of the 43rd National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria with 219 votes “in favour”, 12 votes against" and 1 "abstention".
