Children from Varna donated money to elderly people from sale of Christmas cards

More than 30,000 BGN were raised during a charity campaign by children from the youth organisation "Dolphin" in Bulgaria’s coastal city of Varna. For months, they made Christmas cards from recycled materials, and the money from their sale was donated to “Gergana” Old People's Home.

The children from “Dolphin” organization have managed to sell more than 4,000 Christmas cards. With the money they will buy medical beds and furnishings for the elderly in Gergana Home in Varna.

For 12 years, the young volunteers have been helping people in need. They make not only greeting cards, but also scarves and jewelry from recycled materials. The goal of the Dolphin organisation is to do good not only at Christmas.

Gergana Chanova, Volunteer at the Dolphin Youth Organisation: We have campaigns about everything. We clean the beach, clean up other places, visit a home for children without parents, take them to a camp, organise charity lunches.

This year, volunteers from other European countries again joined the cause of the children.

Antoaneta Pophlebarova, mentor of the Dolphin Youth Organisation: I am absolutely convinced in the power of human good, solidarity, the fact that there is a huge collective positive energy that just has to be gathered and directed in some direction.
