Chinese companies are interested in building Cherno More (Black Sea) motorway. Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on 18th of August following a meeting in Bulgarian coastal city of Bourgas with representatives of the Asian business.
Opportunities to implement projects with Chinese investments were discussed at the meeting. The mayor of Bourgas Dimitar Nikolov also participated in the talks. The focus was placed on the contruction of Cherno More motorway.
"We are making a lot of progress as regards Cherno More Motorway" the PM noted after the meeting, adding that the idea was to give it on concession if possible.
The topic of investment in Belene nuclear power plant project was also discussed at the meeting.
Borissov pointed out that it would be good for the region if there were direct flights from China to Bourgas, and not only during the tourist season.
He added that in August, the work on Aheloy section of the motorway will begin and that next year the most
important sections will be ready and traffic will be eased.
Cherno More motorway is a Bulgarian motorway planned to link the major coastal cities of Varna and Bourgas, passing along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It is part of the Pan-European Corridor VIII and is estimated to be 103 km (60 miles) long when finished.
