Code orange weather alert over strong wind is in force for 17 districts in Eastern and Northern Bulgaria on 30th of October. In some places, wind gusts are expected to reach 100 kilometres per hour, meteorologists warn. Dozens of reports for fallen trees have been received in the Civil Protection Service. The epicenter of the cyclone, which is the cause of the storm that has been raging in Central and Northern Europe for several days, is moving eastward and in the coming days will pass north of Bulgaria, bringing strong winds.

In Rousse, North of Bulgaria, on the Danube river, wind gusts reached 86 km per hour. There have been no reports of serious damages so far. There is a temporary restrictions for thre traffic on the road Sitovo - Dulovo in the town of Dulovo because of fallen electric poles. Due to the strong wind, warnings were given to captains of ships sailing along the Danube.

Fifty reports about fallen trees across the country were received in Civil Protection Service. In the town of Lom, also on the Danube, the strong wind uprooted five trees. Teams of the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Protection of the Population in Vidin responded to three signals aboyt fallen trees over the past 24 hours. Most powerful was the wind in Belogradchik region, at a speed of up to 20 metres per second.

The strong wind in Pernik blowed off the scaffolding of a block and dropped it on a car. The incident occurred at a building which is currently being repaired. Because of the late hour, there were no victims as there were not many people in the strret. In Dobrich, Silistra and Veliko Turnovo, emergency teams are working on removing fallen trees as a result of the strong wind.

Met experts warn that the wind will continue to blow through the day, gusts are expected to reach 100 km per hour. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology recommends that people should watcht out for falling or flying debris in the air.
