Code yellow weather warning over heavy rain has been issued for the districts of Pernik, Kyustendil, Vidin, Montana, Vratsa and Sofia for Friday, January 8. The expected precipitation is 35 litres per square metre.
Snow is expected in the Predbalkan area. In Stara Planina mountains, the mix of rain and snow will create the possibility for black ice on roads.
A moderate and strong southwest wind will blow in the southern mountainous areas. Thunders are possible. Temporarily stormy southwest wind is expected on the high and open parts in Southern Bulgaria. Temperatures in the mountains will rise slightly and snow will fall at an altitude of over 1600-1700 meters.
Rainfall will continue over the weekend and early next week.
