Intense traffic combined with complicated winter condtions on the roads is expected on 30th of December, the last working day of 2016.
Code yellow for strong winds, snow and black ice has been issued for 15 districts of the country. At places, gusts may exceed 80 km / h.
Many Bulgarians today will be travelling to places where they have chosen to welcome the new year. Traffic is complicated because of the snow and strong wind in Eastern Bulgaria. Road Infrastructure Agency advises drivers to get prepared for winter driving conditions, to drive carefully and at reasonable speed and to not take abrupt maneuvers.
The busiest traffic is expected on "Hemus", “Trakia", "Struma” motorway and the road to Kulata border checkpoint. Traffic is banned between 16:00 and 20:00 for heeavy-freight vehicles weighing over 12 tonnes.
Traffic Police will deploy the maximum number of teams at the exits of Sofia and the major cities in order to ensure safety of the traffic.
