CODE YELLOW WEATHER ALERT FOR SNOW AND DRIFTS IN 23 DISTRICTS IN BULGARIA

Code yellow weather warning for snow and possible drifts is in place for 23 districts in Bulgaria on 18th of January. The new snow cover is expected to reach 20 cm in the Rhodope Mountain.

The roadways in the whole country are wet and icy in places. The main roads are passable in winter conditions.

More than 120 snow ploughing machines are working in Sofia. Public transport services are running on schedule. Sand has been applied on the roads in the mountainous park Vitosha near Sofia.

205 homeless people sought shelter in the municipal centres.

Sofia municipality reminds drivers to be more cautious and drive safely.

The road section Rousse – Razgrad is closed for traffic for all vehicles.
