The energy system operator said that on 9th of January, between 19:00 and 20:00, the demand for electricity peaked at 7,500 megawatts.
With temperatures remaining low, the cold weather reserve has been activated.
"We will take all necessary actions within the law to ensure the security of households in the first place and to provide the necessary energy to the public supplier in order to meet the needs of domestic consumers. So there will not be concerns about power shortages," Temenuzhka Petkova, outgoing Minister of Energy said on 10th of January.
