Court in Plovdiv Suspended the Case against Mayor Ivan Totev

The Regional Court in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv suspended the court proceedings against the Mayor Ivan Totev, his deputy Dimitar Katsarski and the Mayor of Zapaden (West) region Dimitar Kolev on 19th of September.

The three of them had been accused of malfeasance in office in relation to the choice of contractor for the construction of the zoo.

The case was returned to Sofia City Prosecutor's Office for removal of essential infringements of the procedural requirements. According to the magistrates, the infringements in the course of the pre-trial proceedings have led to a limitation of the defendants' rights of defence.

Instructions have been given to the Prosecutor's to remove the infringements if a new indictment is filed.
