Covid-19: Doctors call for stricter compliance with anti-epidemic measures

Doctors from 4 hospitals in Sofia on October 27 called for compliance with the measures against the spread of the coronavirus.

The medics from Pirogov emergency hospital, the Military Medical Academy, Alexandrovska and St. Anna Hospital in Sofia came out with lighted mobile phones to demand a normal life for themselves as well.

"Only with joint efforts we will defeat the infection. Help us by following the rules - disinfection, distance, discipline. Wear masks!"

The call comes from the medics from the emergency department of the Sofia hospital "St. Anna". Of the approximately 100 patients who sought medical help in the hospital today, 20 were suspected of having coronavirus.

“We never imagined that we could face something like the situation at the moment. But here it is, it is a fact. We support each other. We are working hard. In general, we rely on the responsibility of all Bulgarian citizens, because without it things become more and more difficult," said Dr. Evtim Dimov, orthopedist at St. Anna University Hospital.

They say they are on the edge of exhaustion. They are fighting to save every life. They say that if people follow the anti-epidemic measures, the number of infected people will decrease.

When these basic measures are not observed, the health care system simply gets overloaded, said Dr. Evtim Dimov, an orthopedist at St. Anna University Hospital.

The medics from Pirogov Emergency Hospital have been at the forefront of the fight against the Covid-19 infection for more than seven months and are already tired.

"The system works, but the fact that it works does not mean its batteries would not run out. We also have families. We have children. We want to see our relatives and friends," said Prof. Asen Baltov - director of "Pirogov ".

Medics from "Alexandrovska" came out with a call to protect each other and our relatives and to be responsible to others. The message of the doctors from the Military Medical Academy is that only responsible behaviour will keep us healthy.
