Many senior citizens aged 65 and over want more shopping hours, different from the period between 08:00 and 10:00 am, set by the Ministery of Health or request the current period to be moved more towards midday.
The argument is that it is very early, the period is short, some seniors are not so mobile and some shops are not even open at 08:00 in the morning,
At 8 o'clock in the morning the market in "Mladost 1" in Sofia is empty, the small shops around it are closed. Most shops start opening around 09:00. So one hour from this period is lost. There is a big supermarket nearby which works at that time.
Yesterday, November 12, the health minister said that when he weather gets colder, the period offering special shopping hours for seniors will be moved in the afternoon, from 14:00 to 16:00.
The idea of introducing seniors-only shopping hours is to allow those most vulnerable some time to shop in an environment with fewer risks
