Covid-19: Ministry of Health corrected the Order on new vaccination schedule after receiving a signal from BNT

Low interest in the “green corridors” - the new vaccination schedule is in force from today, May 18, according to which from Mondays to Thursdays, immunisation centres administer Covid-19 jabs to people over the age of 60 and people with severe chronic diseases. All other groups can receive the jabs from Fridays to Sundays. Who could be vaccinated today - it turned out that there is no common understanding among medical practitioners.

New system for vaccinations against Covid-19 in place from today

After a signal from BNT to the Ministry of Health, the order on the new vaccination schedule was corrected and it now says that from Mondays to Thursdays, people aged over 60 and people with severe chronic illnesses are given priority, but those from other age groups can also get immunised on those days.

BNT team went to Alexandrovska Hospital in Sofia, shortly before noon on day one of the priority vaccination for the elderly. There were no more than five people in front of the vaccination centre, all from the priority group under the new order.

In "Pirogov" hospital the queue was less than 10 people. Dr. Silvia Cholakova explained that there were not many willing to get immunised today. It is possible that we may have vaccinated many of those over the age of 60, who live in the area. Today we have vaccinated no more than 30 people. By this time of day, we have usually done about 100, Dr. Cholakova added.

BNT sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Health asking how the order should be interpreted. The text of the order was changed in the late afternoon. People under the age of 60 without diseases can be vaccinated throughout the week, but in the days from Monday to Thursday, priority will be given to people over 60 in the queues.
