Bulgarian customs officers at Lesovo checkpoint (Bulgaria's border with Turkey) seized 25,500 euros and 191 spare auto parts while checking a Turkish car entering Bulgaria, Bourgas customs house said on 28th of September.
The spare parts (Mercedes-Benz sensors) were hidden between the personal belongings of the driver, who is a Turkish citizen. At a check of the driver’s clothes, undeclared 25,500 euros were found in 100 euro banknotes.
The car, the smuggled currency and the auto spare parts were seized to the state. Acts of infringement have been issued to the driver under the Customs Act and the Foreign Exchange Act. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Yambol.
