Bulgarian customs officers from the anti-drug trafficking unit of Sofia airport seized undeclared cash from a passenger. The amount of 85,500 euro was seized on 19th of August from a national of Saudi Arabia, arriving in Sofia on a flight from Istanbul.
The passenger was selected and stopped for a check on the basis of the risk analysis method while he was going through the “Nothing to Declare” green corridor. During the check, the customs officers found undeclared cash. The banknotes were in denomination of 500 euro.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated on the case. The investigation is conducted under the leadership of Sofia Regional Prosecutor’s office.
