The deputy governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), Dimitar Kostov resigned on 1st of March. He has been in charge of bank supervision.
In a statement published on BNB website, Kostov said that now was a good time to step down given the “very good working communication” with the ECB and its Single Supervisory Mechanism, but also because the ECB stress test of Bulgaria’s banking sector was only the first stage in “a more complex process.”
“In order to ensure good management and continuity in this process, In my opinion it is appropriate at this stage to seek a new head of bank supervision with a six-year horizon,” Kostov said.
