The executive board of DOST party, the breakaway from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, will support the cente-right GERB candidate Tsetska Tsacheva in the 6th of November presidential elections, the leader of DOST, Lyutvi Mestan said at a press conference on 20th of October. “We will give the support without being requested for this,” Mestan added. If the presidential elections are won by any of the leftist candidates, a risk for the Euro-Atlantic orientation of Bulgaria will appear, he said.
Mestan specified that DOST’s support for Tsetska Tsacheva was not a support for GERB party, but a support for the strategic choice of Bulgaria to continue to develop as a NATO and European member.
DOST do not have preliminary conditions but have expectations from the future President. Mestan’s party expects the next Head of State to be a guarantor for the continuous Euro-Atlantic development of the country; an institutional guarantee for the real equality of all Bulgarian citizens and speak with a strong voice whenever human rights are violated; to be institutional and public leader of debate for serious changes to the Constitution and convening a new Grand National Assembly.
