On March 2, Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission will hold the draw to determine the order in which the parties and coalitions will appear on the ballot paper for the parliamentary elections, scheduled for April 4, the spokesperson of the Central Election Commission ,Tanya Tsaneva, said on /February 25. The holding of the draw will aired live on BNT2 channel.
"Due to the pandemic situation, crowding of many people is not recommended. It will be different this year," she explained.
The parties will send one representative each, and the coalitions two, it became clear at today's briefing.
The CEC has already adopted the rules for coverage by the public service broadcasters BNR and BNT of the events of the candidates for MPs, as well as a decision regarding the determination of the procedures though draw, the order of presenting of candidates, parties and coalitions in the regional television cent.res
The commission has also adopted a decision for voters whose personal documents have expired. A decision was also adopted regarding the mobile sectional commissions for voters with permanent disabilities.
"We complied with the changes that were made to the Emergency Situations Act. According to these changes, personal documents that expire in the period from March 13, 2020 to January 31, 2021 are extended by 6 months. This means that the expired documents from March 13, 2020 to the date of the elections will be valid and it will be possible to vote with these documents - ID cards or passports," Tsaneva explained.
6,976 voting machines have been delivered to the country so far. They are stored in a warehouse, said Dimitar Dimitrov, a CEC spokesperson. Five of the machines have been handed over to the institutions, which by law must carry out their certification, he specified.
According to preliminary data, about 6,732,316 voters are eligible to vote in the parliamentary elections, said Tanya Tsaneva. However, she emphasized that this was an estimate figure and should not be considered final.
