Election results based on 92.95% of tally sheets processed: Six parties will enter Bulgaria’s next Parliament

Election results based on 92.95% of the tally sheets processed show that 6 Bulgarian parties will have seats in the next Parliament, data from the Central Election Commission showed on April 5.

Prime Minister Boiko Borissov’s centre-right GERB-UDF coalition wins the largest share of votes in the April 4 parliamentary elections. It has received 26.02%.

The party formed around TV presenter Slavi Trifonov, “There is Such a People”, comes second with 17.9%.

Kornelia Ninova’s Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), the largest opposition party in the previous Parliament, is in third place with 14.99%, which has been the weakest result for the party.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms was fourth with 9.94%t, ahead of Hristo Ivanov’s Democratic Bulgaria coalition, with 9.69%.

“Rise up! Thugs out!”, the coalition between former Ombudsperson Maya Manolova and the organisers of the anti-government protests in 2020, is in sixth place and will enter the next Parliament with 4.81% of the votes.

Krassimir Karakachanov’s nationalist VMRO, with 3.65% of the votes is on the brink of the 4% threshold, and before all votes are counted and the final results are ready, it is not possible to clarify whether the party would enter the Parliament or not.

Volya-NFSB patriotic coalition with 2.39% and Vazrazhdane (Revival) with 2.51% remain below the threshold. The surprise for the observers are the votes for Bulgarian National Union - 3.01%.

Within 48 hours, all Regional election commissions are required to submit their election papers for processing to the Central Election Commission.

The votes of the Bulgarians abroad have already been 100% counted, so it can be said that the results are final.

On Thursday, the distribution of seats by party will be clear. After that each elected candidate has three days to decide from which district he/she wants to be an MP, so within 7 days it will be known who are the MPs in the new parliament.
