A farmers’ market offering goods directly from producers will be open until 18:00 on 25th of August in front of the building of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sofia.
The market was opened by the Minister of Agriculture, Dessislava Taneva, and the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova. The idea is to make the initiative regular.
Every month, farmers’ markets take place at the market places in “Ivan Vazov” and “Rimskata Stena” in Sofia.
The prices for hiring of stalls are especially reduced for the farmers, so that it will be easier for customers to buy goods directly form certified producers, the mayor explained.
Today’s market offers dairy and meat products, wine, honey and vegetables.
Minister Taneva explained that the EU has the highest standards in the world in respect of safety of foods. Bulgaria has fulfilled these requirements after joining EU and including with the assistance pf the pre-accession and after that of the rural development programme. The markets are regulated, she said.
