FIRST EDITION OF OPERA ON THE PEAKS BEGINS TONIGHT

The magic of art and beauty of nature will be combined in a unique festival called "Opera on the Peaks." The summer programme of Sofia Opera and Ballet will be performed near the Belogradchik Rocks and "Magura" cave, famous for its prehistoric drawings. The event will run for 3 days.

The idea for "Opera on the Peaks" came from the director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet Plamen Kartalov. It is named so because it combines cutting-edge art with some of the most beautiful creations of nature.

"Many travelers and artists who have discovered this divine creation of nature were not only attracted but also enchanted by this mystery emitted from the rocks. Opera art is a mystery and once people discover it, they discover worlds, " said Acad. Kartalov said.

"Tosca" and "Turandot" by Puccini will be performed at the rocks and the fortress "Kale" will be natural scenery. The ballet "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky will also be performed on the stage near the rocks.

The first edition of the festival “Opera on the Rocks” will start on 5th of Augusts. The event will take place near the Belogradchik rocks every year.

There is no doubt about the interest of the public to the upcoming event. The tickets for the performances finished shortly after they were released for sale.

In order to avoid traffic congestions on the days of the performances, personal car to the fortress "Kale" will not be allowed.

Two buses are provided to transport spectators from the center of Belogradchik, Rosen Mladenov, Deputy Mayor of Belogradchik said.
