Almost 403,000 Bulgarians and their families were supported with more than 6,300 tonnes of basic food in October and November.
Over 279,000 packages of 16 types of food products, provided under the Operational Programme for Food and/or Basic Material Assistance, financed by the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) and the state budget, were distributed during the two months. The food is worth a total of BGN 15.3 million and the distribution was assigned to the Bulgarian Red Cross by the Managing Authority of the programme - the Social Assistance Agency.
For the first time, families with three or more members received two packages, each containing a total of 23 kg of products. Among them are different types of canned food, flour, sugar, oil and more.
The double support is in response to the desire of consumers expressed in a satisfaction survey on the measure. The packages that remain unclaimed and not delivered will be distributed to additional target groups, determined by a special ordinance.
