Freight train cars derailed and temporarily stopped train traffic on the international line Sofoa – Belgrade. The incident occurred in the section between the towns of Kostinbrod and Petarch on 29th of August.
The international trains have not been stopped from movement. Passengers will be transported by buses in that section.
Seven freight cars loaded with coal came off the tracks. About 200 m of the railway has been damaged.
Officials from the Ministry of Transport investigated the incident and identified that the derailment was caused by a technical error.
Representatives of the Bulgarian Railway Company inspected the tracks and expect they would be repaired by the end of the day.
