A young French citizen suspected of links to jihadists was detained by the Bulgarian authorities while trying to cross into Turkey, Bulgarian Interior Minister Roumyana Bachvarova said on 29th of September.
The suspect entered Bulgaria through Kalotina border crossing from Serbia.
He was arrested as a result of information submitted by the Bulgarian authorities that the suspect was on the territory of Bulgaria.
France is expected to issue an international arrest warrant in order to start the procedure for the extradition of the suspect.
Interior Minister Bachvarova commented that the arrest was a result of good collaboration between France and Bulgaria. For security reasons she declined to say where the suspect was being held.
