In response to the request by the Bulgarian authorities, the EU border agency Frontex will strengthen the control at the Bulgarian borders with Turkey and Serbia. It will provide additional assistance by sending officers and technical equipment including for surveillance on land and air.
The officers will be deployed in the next weeks at the Bulgarian-Turkish and the Bulgarian-Serbian borders.
91 million euro have been allocated to Bulgaria by funds of the EU. Additional 12 million euro were provided as emergency assistance for specific measures in response to the current situation.
