On 11th of September, the Supreme Judicial Council sitting elected Georgi Cholakov as President of the Supreme Administrative Court. 20 members of the SJC voted for him, and 5 voted for his opponent Sonia Yankulova. Cholakov was nominated by the General Assembly of the Judges at the Supreme Administrative Court. He is the head of the second chamber of the court and had the support of the current President - Georgi Kolev.
In his presentation to the council, Cholakov said he would work for qualitative administrative justice and improve the interpretative activity of the SAC. He also talked about electronic administrative justice and an effective assessment of the workload of judges in SAC. He promised to report on a regular basis to the SJC, if elected. Answering a question by the Chief Prosecutor, he commented that according to him, the place of the prosecution was in the judiciary.
