The German newspaper 'Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung' ranked him first among six other nominees it has put forward as possible winners of the award
Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov is among the favourites for this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature, German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports.
The newspaper has named seven authors it believes have a chance of receiving the award. Bulgarian writer Gospodinov tops its list, alongside Gerald Murnane, the Australian writer, poet and essayist; Gabriela Adameșteanu, the Romanian journalist, translator and writer; Aka Morchiladze, the Georgian writer; Michel Houellebecq, the French writer; Colm Tóibín, the Irish novelist, short-story writer, essayist, journalist, playwright, literary critic and poet; and Hoda Barakat, the Lebanese writer.
The winner will be officially announced in Stockholm tomorrow. The Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded annually since 1901. However, the names of the nominated authors are not made public.
In 2025, the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai.
