Government approved Easter bonuses for pensioners with the lowest pensions

A total of 1,300,000 Bulgarian pensioners will receive Easter bonuses to their pension, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Bisser Petkov, said on March 20 after the regular weekly meeting of the cabinet. For this purpose, nearly BGN 53 million have been allocated from the State Social Security budget.

The Easter supplement amounts to 40 BGN per person. It will be paid to people, whose monthly pension is up to BGN 348, which is the officially defined poverty line for Bulgaria in 2019.

In relation to the new pension calculation formula that has been in force since the beginning of the year, the social minister announced that legislative changes will soon be introduced in the interest of future pensioners.
