Hail battered towns in South-central Bulgaria

Powerful hail storm hit the region of Chirpan, Parvomay and Stara Zagora (South-central Bulgaria). This is clear from photos and videos shared by Meteo Balkans on social networks on April 25.

The storm also hit Parvomay.

According to radars of the Agency "Hail Supression", hail cells are moving towards Sliven and Kotel.

Over 600 rockets were launched within 4 hours, from 13:19, from the sites of the Agency "Hail Supression".

In the afternoon, several cells developed, hailstones the size of peas and walnuts fell in a number of places in the districts of Plovdiv, Haskovo, Stara Zagora and Sliven. There was damage to the crops.

More than 20 hail cells have been treated by the Regional Hail Supression Directorates in Tuzha, Stara Zagora, Popovitsa, Haskovo and Sliven.

One of the cells passing over a protected area was a supercell, which was impacted by 3 regional directorates - Popovitsa, Petrovo and Staro Selo.

This type of processes are characterized by continuous renewal of the cloud power, it is impossible to completely prevent the hail, but only the reduction of the size, the Hail Suprression Agency said.
