Head of National Social Security Institute in Silsitra was arrested

The head of the territorial division of the National Social Security Institute in the city of Silistra (North Bulgaria) Milen Penchev was arrested on 8^th of March. The specialized prosecutor’s office investigates the siphoning off of the pension fund by granting pensions through false documents, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev told BNT on 8^th of March.

In addition to having the largest number of pensioners, Silistra also turns out to be a region where, without having worked, you can get the maximum size of pension.

According to the investigators, the head of the NSSI in the city Milen Penchev has been involved in a scheme, through certificates were issued that a certain person had worked in the mining industry the necessary number of years to get the highest pension the law provides for.

The “service”cost 10,000 BGN, which was given to Penchev. It was acceptable because it was offered at payment by installments, which were paid after the provision of the pension. The debit cards were then returned to the pensioners so they could get the pensions for the rest of their lives.
