More than 70% of the Covid-19 test samples at national level are positive for the new UK variant of the virus. There is no registered Nigerian variant of the virus in Bulgaria, Minister of Health, Prof. Kostadin Angelov said on March 9 in Kyustendil.
The Minister announced that today 4 mobile teams from the Emergency Centre in Sofia are carrying out vaccinations in Kyustendil, and there is readiness to provide additional quantities of vaccines. Tomorrow Angelov will be in Bourgas.
The situation in the country is serious. In several places there is a serious pressure on medical institutions. Additional restrictive measures are being discussed with the directors of regional health inspectorates, said Prof. Angelov and stressed: “There are no measures that we would not introduce”.
The measures in the country can be tightened if the number of Covis-19 cases continues to rise.
We are worried about all Bulgarians returning from Africa, Angelov said, referring to Zanzibar - the country that has become very popular for Bulgarian tourists in the recent weeks.
We will take everything necessary, including the introduction of quarantine for those who return from there, Angelov said.
The Minister assured that where necessary in the country, students will stay at home and switch to online education. This applies to both young students and kindergartens.
