Heavy snowfall on the Shipka pass on November 30. Temperatures have dropped to minus 5 degrees per Celsius. The snow cover is about 15 cm.
It has been snowing for almost 12 hours, and the snowfall’s intensity increased many times over the past hour.
The wind is with gusts of storm, with a speed of over 120 km/h. Visibility is reduced to almost zero.
The road is being cleared and sanded, but despite that it still gets covered with ice, Yonko Yonkov, manager of the company that is clearing the pass on the south side, told BNT.
He called on drivers to be cautious, to travel only with winter tyres and have enough fuel.
He said that the snow ploughing machines have been working for 12 hours. There are 6 of them, 4 more will be added and the snow removal will continue throughout the night.
