The situation in the country remains complicated after the snowfall and the strong wind.

Code orange was declared on January 27 for potentially dangerous weather, snowfall and wind in 9 districts in Bulgaria: Silistra, Dobrich, Razgrad, Targovishte, Varna, Shumen, Sliven, Bourgas and Yambol. Code yellow is in effect for snowfall and stormy wind in the districts of Rousse, Veliko Turnovo, Gabrovo, Lovech, Stara Zagora, Haskovo and Kardzhali .

Serious snowfalls are expected in the districts of Shumen, Varna, Bourgas and Dobrich.

All motorways are passable in winter conditions.

The restriction for movement of vehicles weighing more than 12 tonnes on Hemus motorway in the Sofia region has been lifted.

Petrohan and Shipka mountain passes are passable without restrictions. At the Pass of the Republic, there is no restriction for chains for vehicles weighing more than 12 tonnes.

Beklemeto mountain pass is completely closed to traffic.

Restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles in the passes in Smolyan District and in the direction of Belovo-Yundola and Devin-Mihalkovo remain in effect.

Traffic through the Dyulin Pass is temporarily restricted due to snow removal.

The situation in Varna district is difficult. In some places it is even critical. There are power outages in 13 villages in the district. In 9 of them, electricity supply has already been restored.

The roads are passable, but in winter conditions. The road Vetrino-Sovorovo and the road near Aksakovska Panorama are closed for snow cleaning. There is an emergency ambulance stuck near the village of Kumanovo with a hemodialysis patient.

A partial state of emergency is expected to be declared in the municipality of Sovorovo due to the frequent failures in the electricity transmission grid.

There are many stuck cars in the Varna region, but no reports of stranded people. There is also a stuck bus in the area of ​​the village of Kichevo, but the passengers have already been transported.

The traffic in Varna is normal, the roads are cleaned.

There are power outages in many villages in Stara Zagora region in southern Bulgaria. Kran-Shipka road is closed.

Shipka mountain Pass was closed for an hour so that the road could be cleaned from the snow. Motorists are advised to drive with caution as there are icy sections on the road.

Due to the very strong wind, the Kran-Shipka road was closed, where dozens of cars crashed this morning. Fortunately, no one was injured. A detour route through the village of Dunavtsi is provided.

In some places the snow cover reaches 45 cm.

The road section Izvorishte - Kableshkovo is closed to traffic due to snowstorms.

A bus crashed on the Rousse-Byala road in northern Bulgaria

A Turkish passenger bus went off the road this morning and fell into a ditch on the Rouse-Byala section. Two drivers and three passengers were travelling in it. The bus ran regular service to Bucharest.

A total of 8 villages in the district of Rousse region are without electricity due to a broken transmission line. All roads in Rousse region are passable in winter conditions.
