Kamelia Neykova is the new chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC). This became clear after new consultations with the political parties and coalitions represented in Parliament to nominate CEC Chairperson, which were held in the Presidency on May 7.
Neykova was nominated by "There is Such a People" party (the second largest in Parliament) during the additional consultations with the President today, after on May 6 GERB-UDF withdrew the nomination of Krassimir Tsipov, which was the only proposal for that post tabled at the initial consultations.
At the consultations held on May 5, the BSP, "Democratic Bulgaria" and "Rise up! Thugs out!" opposed his candidacy.
