The specialized criminal court on 26th of March held a sitting on the collapse of Bulgaria’s Corporate Commercial Bank. A key witness in the case, Bisser Lazov, was interviewed.
He is considered the right-hand man of Tsvetan Vassilev, the former majority shareholder of Corpbank. Bisser Lazov outlined the schemes under which the bank was siphoned off resulting in the collapse.
He told the court that he was the first 'front' of Tsvetan Vassilev to form 'shell' companies funded by Corpbank. According to Lazov, he himself has not received any money for that.
Vassilev's employees also became ‘fronts’ for the banker in order to prove their loyalty to him.
During the interview, Lazov named the first political figure associated with Tsvetan Vassilev - Ivan Kostov (former Prime Minister of Bulgaria). According to Lazov, Vassilev every month ordered a payment of 25,000 BGN to Kostov’s company.
