There are kilometers long lines of lorries queueing on both sides of Danube Bridge border crossing point on 24th of August. The reason is a major repair on the Romanian side that has been going on for months. To prevent accidents, teams of Border Police are regulating the flow of vehicles in the area of the border crossing point and at the roundabout.
On the territory of Romania, the lorries have to wait at least 2 hours before they cross the border. On the Bulgarian side the lines of lorries are queuing along the road to the town of Silistra, at times reaching the junction with the village of Marten.
The line stretches to almost 10 km, the Border Police in Rousse said. They explained that both Bulgarian and Romanian authorities were doing everything possible to speed up the processing of documents at the check point, but the queues were formed due to the slow passage on the lane, which is being repaired. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes and other check points at the border between Bulgaria and Romania.
