I will support Boyko Borisov’s will for Bulgaria’s entry in the Eurozone waiting room as a result of the efforts it made. I think this request is perfectly legitimate in order to achieve convergence in the areas of economy and finance within the eurozone, President Emmanuel Macron said after the meeting with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on 25th of August. Macron stressed that an end should be put to the border that lies between the East and the West of Europe and Bulgaria as a full-fledged member of the EU should fight for stronger integration in the economy and finance.
After the meeting with the French President, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that “Bulgaria has done its homework” so that it is no risk to the eurozone.
Boyko Borisov, Prime Minister of Bulgaria: "Our budget is in surplus, we are in the first three places in terms of low external debt. A stable fiscal reserve, a currency board and a huge reserve in the Bulgarian Central Bank." We did our homework so that we do not pose any risk to the Eurozone.”
The French President said that he and Borissov talked about many topics related to education, French language teaching, economic cooperation, industry and defence. Macron expressed satisfaction with the progress made and expects ageeements to be signed in the coming weeks.
