The holiday dedicated to the melon will take place at the square of the Black Sea coastal village of Balgarevo at 18.00 on 6th of August. Four folklore groups from Balgarevo, Balchik and Varna and the dance ensemble from Durankulak will perform at the event.
Before that, the audience will have the opportunity to watch the competitions for the biggest melon and the sweetest melon. The hosts, who like preparing fruit desserts will be able to see intersecting culinary proposals in the exhibition “Melon Fantasies”. The organisers have prepared some entertainment for children as well. They will be able to participate in games with melons or to compete in the contest for the fastest eating of melon.
As part of the tradition, the melon holiday is held in the village of Balgarevo. The region is known for the exceptional qualities of the melons grown there. There are about 80 producers in the village and over 1,500 decares of fields planted with melons.
