By 5 votes in favour, Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media approved the members of the new BNT Management Board in accordance with Article 55 of the Radio and Television Act.

The Management Board of the public service broadcaster BNT consists of five members and is chaired by the BNT Director General Konstantin Kamenarov, who is an ex-officio member of the board.

The members of the new Management Board are: Valeri Zapryanov; Vassilena Matakeva; Zina Trifonova and Anton Andonov.

The members of the BNT Board meet the requirements of Article 59 of the Radio and Television ACt.

The areas of responsibility of the new members will be determined at the first sitting of the Management Board.

Valeri Zapraynov

Valeri Zapryanov has more than 35 years of professional experience in journalism, print and electronic media. He is one of the founders of Standard newspaper and a former Editor-in-Chief of Sega magazine. Between 2001 and 2015, he was the editor-in-chief of the weekly magazine Tema. He is also its publisher. In 1996, he was director of BNT Channel 1.

Zapraynov was Deputy Chair of the Union of Publishers in Bulgaria. In 2012, he was elected Chair of the Bulgarian Media Union.

He is the winner of "Panitza" journalism award for a series of coverages on the war in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (1995).

Vassilena Matakeva

Vassilena Matakeva has a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology and is currently a PhD student in the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy at the National Sports Academy (NSA). She has worked at the Bulgarian National Television since 1992, presenter of sports shows and news, author of TV films. she has experience in radio journalism.

In 2005, she was the press officer of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and participated in the preparation of Sofia's candidacy for hosting the Olympic Games. Member of the Media Committee of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee. Since 2009, she has been a lecturer in the Master's Programme in Sports Journalism at the NSA.

Zina Trifonova

Zina Trifonova has an extensive professional experience in the government administration. She worked as a legal advisor to the Post and Telecommunications Committee, Legal Division. She worked on drafting laws and regulations in the field of electronic media and communications. Later, she was the Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (current Ministry of Transport and Information Technology).

In 2002, she was elected member of the Committee for Regulation of Communications, from the quota of the National Assembly. Since 2007, she has an independent law practice and is a lawyer from Sofia Bar Association.

Anton Andonov

Anton Andonov has nearly 15 years of experience in the media. He is the author of a number of publications for Bulgarian and foreign magazines. For more than 10 years, he worked as a screenwriter and editor in a number of Bulgarian and licensed television formats in the three TV stations with national coverage. He has participated in prestigious international projects. Since 2012, he has been part of the "Wake Up" programme, broadcast on Nova TV and one of his hosts.

In 2015, he worked in BNT projects ("55 People in Your Life" and Junioir Eurovision). He has experience as a communications consultant.
