A new technology that prevents hair loss in cancer patients during chemotherapy was presented in Bulgaria for the first time.
The device works successfully in 30 other countries. Doctor Yankov from Serdika hospital explained that the treatment was harmless and had a success rate of 85%. He said the treatment was applied in parallel with the chemotherapy. Chemotherapy often leads to hair loss and many people prefer to skip it.
Dr. Metodi Yankov, Head of Serdika Hospital: The device works on the principle of cooling and is absolutely harmless. More than 100,000 people, mostly women, have been treated with this technology, with 85% success rate of full hair retention.
