Health workers continue with protests and will set up a tent camp. This became clear after their meeting with Ombudsperson Maya Manolova on 7th of March. According to Manolova, demands for higher salaries are fair. She expects the Health Minister to observe the commitments he has made in due time.
In addition to raising salaries, protesters demand that there be no commercial companies in the healthcare, as well as restoration of medical standards. The problem is that the requirements for the number of nurses to a healthcare establishment is optional.
The Ombudsman of Bulgaria said that there was absolutely no valuation of the minimum medical care provided by nurses and midwives.
According to physiotherapists, clinical paths are drafted by people who have not even seen the patients, and the valuation of procedures is not done well.
The nurses threatened that if they did not receive a decent pay for their labour soon, they would become carers, because, in addition to receiving the same money, the work will not be as busy and responsible. Medical specialists continue with their protests on March 21, with a tent camp, and the national protest is planned for March 25th.
