Bulgaria’s outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borissov was admitted to Pirogov emergency hospital in Sofia for nuclear-magnetic resonance imaging of the knee after an injury, Sevdelina Arnaudova from GERB party’s the press office told BNT on April 19.
Borisov has a torn meniscus. He is having an operation at Sofiamed University Hospital, the medical institution confirmed. The operation was necessary due to an injury to his right knee, which occurred during a football match, and was performed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Antoni Georgiev.
"After a nuclear magnetic resonance imaging at Pirogov Hospital, damage was found to the inner meniscus of the joint with dislocation of part of it. Mr. Borissov is recovering after the arthroscopic intervention and will remain under observation," commented Assoc. Prof. Georgiev.
