The parliamentary parties nominated their candidates for the Central Election Commission (CEC) on 7th of March. The new CEC will consist of 19 members.

GERB proposed former Supreme Administrative Court Judge Stefka Stoeva as CEC Chairperson, current members Georgi Bahanov, Yordanka Gancheva and Maria Boikinova, and new nominees Alexander Andreev (a CEC Spokesperson from the BSP quota) and lawyer Miroslav Dzherov, a son of the famous politician and lawyer, Aleksander Dzherov. GERB will also name Dimitar Dimitrov.

The BSP nominated current CEC member Tanya Tsaneva, who will ensure continuity between the current and future CEC. Other nominees are Nikolai Nikolov, Constitutional Court jurisconsult and former CEC member Silva Dyukendzhieva, political analyst Silvia Stoicheva.

"United Patriots" unanimously back the long-standing lawyer Assoc. Prof. Tanya Yosifova and re-elevate the current CEC member Boycho Arnaudov.

The MRF's nominees are current members of CEC.

Apart from nominations from parties in Parliament, political forces with MEPs in the European Parliament also have the right to propose their members. The "Reformation Bloc" named their current member Ivaylo Ivkov. On the other hand, the "Bulgaria without censorship" coalition and VMRO did not nominate any candidate. As a next step, the candidates will be heard before the Legal Affair Committee in Parliament. The President, Deputy Chairpersons and CEC Secretary are elected by the Parliament and the other members are appointed by the President.
