The nationalist alliance “Patriotic Front” (PF) will not support the government because they do not agree with the draft declaration on government programme presented by the centre-right GERB, Valeri Simeonov from PF said on 4th of November.
In his opinion, the draft differs significantly from what was discussed at the consultations between GERB and PF in October.
The Patriotic Front insists that the draft include compulsory voting, new electoral law and audit and inspection in the energy sector.
In this draft, some items are related to amendments to the electoral law, limitation and removal of deceased people’s names from voter lists, introduction of electronic voting, larger public involvement in regulatory authorities. It also envisages a possibility for 10,000 members of the public to be able to propose laws to the National Assembly or the Council of Ministers.
Some of the priorities proposed by the Patriotic Front have not been included in this draft. It is now expected to see if GERB would hold negotiations with the Patriotic Front.
Patriotic Front say they would partially back the proposed programme, but what this means exactly is expected to become clear at later stage.
The 2+2 formula for new cabinet i.e.the centre-right GERB and the Reformist Bloc to sign a coalition agreement and receive the support of ABC and the Patriotic Front, on which GERB relied, remains uncertain.
If GERB receives the support of ABC, they will have 118 MPs in Parliament and jointly with the Patriotic Front they will have 137 MPs. If the Patriotic Front does not join, then GERB may have negotiations with MPs from Bulgarian Democratic Centre (the name of the parliamentary group of “Bulgaria without Censorship).
