By decision of the Municipal Crisis Management Headquarters, all cultural events on the territory of the Municipality of Plovdiv are cancelled until January 1, 2021 (inclusive), as well as the traditional festive Christmas and New Year programme on Stefan Stambolov Square.
The decision was made on December 18 in an online meeting and was based on the current epidemiological situation and the opinion of the national task force against coronavirus to extend the partial lockdown in the country.
As already announced, the organizers of Christmas bazaars can offer their products at the municipal markets "Thursday Market" and "Rowing Base", which are adapted for this activity and meet the anti-epidemic regulations.
"I will comply with the decision of the headquarters. Our job is to protect people's health and lives. Until the end, we hoped that the measures would be relaxed at the national level and we would be able to give the people of Plovdiv more Christmas cheer, but unfortunately, there is no prospect of this happening, " said Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov after the meeting.
