Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on April 8 that his party GERB had not been defeated in the April 4 parliamentary elections because it won the largest share of votes in 24 electoral districts out of a total of 31.He called on his opponents to be more tolerant based on their voting results. Meanwhile, it became clear that Borissov had notified the Central Election Commission that he would not take a seat as an MP in the next Parliament despite that he was elected in two districts (Sofia and Plovdiv).
“I do not need immunity. As Prime Minister, I did not have immunity and I do not need it now,” he said.
His party GERB came first in the elections, with 26.2% of the votes.
The Prime Minister inspected the construction works for the removal of the landslide on the road to Rila Monastery and met with the abbot of the Holy Monastery.
He pointed out that the government has allocated BGN 240,000 for the maintenance of Rila Monastery, after the access was limited during the first few months of the year due to fortification activities on the road to the monastery.

"I apologize for the road being closed for 3 months. But you are people who understand and have seen what huge rock masses are on the top. It is an abyss. Yesterday, we allocated extra money. As much as you asked for to compensate for the losses during the period in which the church could not sell candles and to prevent reductions in your staff. Yesterday the letter came to me and we reacted immediately,"Borissov said.
The Prime Minister reminded that BGN 600,000 had recently been allocated for the reconstruction and artistic restoration of the monastery, as well as BGN 1.62 million for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
