Bulgaria opposes federalization of Macedonia and deems it is important that the political crisis be resolved in a democratic manner, said Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at a briefing in the Council of Ministers after a meeting with the Macedonian opposition leader, Zoran Zaev on 29th of May in Sofia.
Zaev, the leader of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia thanked Bulgaria for the support and said that the future of Macedonia should go through fair and democratic elections.
Macedonia has Bulgaria’s support for joining EU and NATO and it is very important that the political crisis be resolved in a democratic manner, PM Borissov said. Bulgaria is not interfering with Macedonia’s internal affairs but is concerned about a political crisis, on top of that, at our border and among a people that are closest to Bulgaria, he added.
Zoran Zaev said that he didn’t want a repeat of what had happened in Ukraine and in Serbia and emphasised that everything could be solved without violence.
