So far, our country has managed the crisis caused by COVID-19 in the best possible way, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said at the first government meeting in 2021 on January 6.

The Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov presented to the Prime Minister a road map developed by the Ministry of Health for medical air evacuation of injured Bulgarian citizens.

A difficult year with a pandemic, with many and different measures that had to be taken, many difficulties for Bulgarian citizens, for business, for the economy. This is how Borissov described the past 2020.

He pointed out that strict measures continue to be imposed throughout Europe, which inevitably affects the finances and economies of the member states. According to him, the vaccine remains our lifeline and in this respect our country also has a strict organization and we are doing it in one of the best ways in Europe.

"From now on, March 28 has been set as the date for the elections, and it is assumed that once it is said, it should be defended by those who set it - President Radev, respectively," the PM said.

At the meeting, Minister of Health Angelov reported on the actions already taken to purchase 1 helicopter for medical purposes and to provide national funding for the repair of 4 available Cougar helicopters, owned by the Ministry of Defense in order to be used for medical evacuation by air to injured Bulgarian citizens, when necessary.

"We have launched a procedure for announcing a public procurement for the purchase of the helicopter with European funds, which will be equipped with all the medical equipment needed to carry out medical rescue on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria," said the Minister of Health.

Prime Minister Borissov described as good the decision to use available helicopters for medical purposes, which will save lives. Borissov was adamant that, as always, when there was an opportunity, the government will continue to send available helicopters and planes to help Bulgarian citizens in need in the country and abroad.

At the beginning of the meeting, priests blessed the Prime Minister and the ministers on the occasion of Epiphany.
