Poland Supports Bulgaria for Joining Schengen

Poland supports Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area. The Polish President Andrzej Duda said after a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Roumen Radev on 5^th of October. Both agree that the European politicians should work for the economic and social cohesion of the countries of the European Union.

Bulgaria’s Head of State Roumen Radev was on an official visit to Warsaw.

The future of Europe and the migration crisis were an important focus of the talks between Presidents Duda and Radev.

Andrzej Duda said that Bulgaria can rely on Poland’s support for joining the Schengen area. We support Bulgaria because it has fulfilled all the conditions it had to fulfill. We also support Bulgaria's policy towards the countries of the Western Balkans and their European perspective.

In terms of security, Bulgaria and Poland have total unanimity that Europe is faced with a number of important challenges from within, as well as from outside, Bulgaria’s President said. He believes that the two countries should participate fully in the European defense.

President Radev called for a common social policy for EU countries and stressed that there are social inequalities in Europe.

Presidents Roumen Radev and Andrzej Duda opened a joint Bulgarian-Polish Economic Forum, which was attended by more than 60 representatives of the Bulgarian business.

170 Polish companies participated in the joint forum. President Radev urged them to invest in Bulgaria because the country provides favourable business conditions.
