The police in the North Bulgarian city of Vidin have arrested two people from Sofia who were transporting 11 illegal migrants on road E-79 in the direction towards Vidin. The two were detained in the early hours on 20th of September for alleged perpetration of crime under art. 281 of the Penal Code, the press office of the local police in Vidin said.
About 22:30 on 19th of September, police officers stopped two cars travelling on road E-79 for a check. The cars had Sofia registration. The police found 5 migrants in one of the cars and 6 in the other car. They crossed into the country illegally. The vehicles were seized and the two drivers were detained.
The group of 11 migrants included 7 adults and 4 children, who claimed they were from Afghanistan and Pakistan. The adults were taken to the police station for identification. The children were given police protection. The work of the investigative authorities is on-going. Pre-court proceedings have been initiated.
