Police Disrupted ID Documents Forgery Gang

Police officers from the directorate for combatting organized crime disrupted a criminal group that was involved in making false ID documents. The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office on the territory of the districts of Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Rousse and Yambol on 31^st of October.

The actions of the police officers have been aimed at disrupting an organized criminal group involved in production and distribution of false ID documents.

10 suspects were detained in the course of the operation, 8 of which had previous criminal records. A total of two workshops for manufacturing and distribution of false Bulgarian, French, Ukrainian, German, Austrian, Italian, Spanish and other documents.

A large quantity of both finished and unfinished forged documents were seized as well as computers, printers, laminators, a laser engraving printer, printed plates, inks, and many materials for production of counterfeits.

Six of the suspects were detained in the territory of Plovdiv, where police officers carried out searches of six locations and six motor vehicles. The two workshops for the production of false Bulgarian and foreign ID documents were identified within the investigative actions. One of them was located in an apartment in a residential building , where the police seized numerous ready and unfinished false foreign ID documents, computers, printers, laminators, printing plates, stamping machines, inks and many materials relevant to the criminal activities.

The other workshop was discovered in an office of a company where a laser engraving printer, a computer configuration, a flash memory with a pre-print of Bulgarian and foreign documents and an image of 50 euros were found. In two of the cars the police found forged Bulgarian passports, ID cards and driving licenses.

In one of the addresses in Plovdiv, the police has also found a large amount of narcotic substance, which in the field test has reacted to cannabis. Another alleged accomplice of the group was detained on the territory of the town of Stamboliiski. False documents were discovered and seized in the town during the investigation.

False documents, passport-size photos with individual records and computer configuration were found by the police officers during a search of an apartment in the city of Rousse. A member of the criminal group was also detained in the town. Another suspect was detained on the territory of Stara Zagora, where police searched an address and a car. They seized false ID documents, passport size photos with data of individuals. One of the accomplices was arrested in Yambol.

Pre-trial proceedings were initiated under the supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
